DOT to MSMEs: Invest in Tourism

In a bid to encourage medium, small and micro entrepreneurs in the Philippines, the Department of Tourism ( DOT ) told MSMEs that the time is ripe for them to take a slice form the growing tourism market in the Philippines!

The DOT aims to educate the accommodations sector of the tourism industry on how to take advantage of the technologies available today such as Airbnb , homestay ideas, boutique hotels and other tourist services including mobile apps such as Traveloka and even Nida Rooms booking app . 

In fact, the DOT just held its first Invest Tourism Philippines forum providing MSMEs with insights from local investors, businessmen and representatives of various government agencies.

Government officials and stakeholders from both the public and private sectors addressed issues of the tourism industry and sought for a mutually beneficial partnership for industry growth and prosperity.

Indeed, there is a great potential in tourism in driving economic growth via accommodations, proper policies and infrastructure development to generate employment along the country side.
