The KALESA Advocacy |
Kalesa Philippines
Advocacy group Kalesa Kinulayan Philippines Peoples’ Organization, Inc. (KALESA) conceptualized a system and technology that aims to uplift the plight of millions of poor Filipinos through entrepreneurship, business and job creation.
The group is passionate in combating poverty through social enterprise by empowering individuals with jobs and opportunity to be productive citizens of the country.
With focus on developing livelihood, reformation, social development, and nutrition-building, KALESA Philippines' core ideas are embodied in the KALESA E-Carts which runs on eco-friendly technology and battery-powered carts.
This is a different 'kalesa'.

As a roving store, the KALESA e-Carts are environment-friendly with its battery-operated technology and runs up to 60 kilometers per battery charge. That amount can cover enough area for an eight to 12 hour shift of merchandising.
Moreover, the KALESA e-Cart’s highly-customizable body is also business-friendly since it can be designed for a specific advertisement of a brand and company and can accommodate up to 600 kg of goods.
Kalesa Beneficiaries |
A key development strategy of the advocacy is to have a distribution center in a baranggay. This is projected to be able to at least help 50 poor Filipino families.
This is further developed with a partnership with the local church for a listing of the indigents in the area. KALESA will then select and train willing and qualified people to sell goods via the electric carts. Each operator is called KALESA Ambassador.
Each KALESA e-Cart is designated to two (2) indigent families. They take turns for a 24-hour shift of the cart. Giving them opportunity to earn. The KALESA Ambassadors earn through profit sharing, thus, making them entrepreneurial.
KALESA distribution centers may also employ other people for its clerical, accounting, technical and marketing jobs.
