Today, February 3, 2011, marks the start of the Year of the Metal Rabbit. Eastwood City will celebrate this special lunar calendar event with several activities.
This Chinese tradition is believed to bring good luck and ward off evil spirits and negative energies. Be a witness to this grand display around Eastwood and celebrate with the exuberant Fireworks Display starting at 7pm at the Eastwood Mall Open Park.
Moreover, the Chinese Rickshaw Display is an homage to an important cultural artifact in Chinese tradition. Feel free to take a picture with the Rickshaw, the Chinese man and the mascosts. The display in the Eastwood Mall Atrium will be open for picture-taking on February 3-6 and February 11-14 at 1:00-3:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm.
The Chinese Rickshaw Display will show the human-powered form of transportation, which was usually made of bamboo. Back then, it only carried the elites of society. Fast forward to the 20th Century, the rickshaw has become the main mode of transportation.
Furthermore, the Chinese Valentine Fair will be held at the Eastwood Mall Atrium from February 1 to February 15 starting 11am. You will find all sorts of clothes, accessories and trinkets that are sure to attract all that's good.
