How many moves constitute an 'action'? What does "10 Piso. 10 Buwan. 10 Libong Silid-Aralan" mean?
Last July, launched among the private sector, Ten Moves campaign collected Php2.5 million in donations through individual donations as well as corporate pledges of employee mobilization and support. Nevertheless, it is still not enough to set off the plan of building classrooms nationwide.
The League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) and the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), and in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) launched publicly last October 14 (Friday) the TEN Moves which aspires Filipinos to contribute ten pesos daily for ten months, or a total of three thousand pesos, for the construction of 10,000 more classrooms in two years.

The DepEd expected the shortage for the school year 2011-2012. The Philippine public schools lack 66,800 classrooms. The priority areas―Pangasinan, Isabela, Batangas, Quezon, Palawan, Camarines Sur, Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, Zamboanga del Sur, and North Cotobato―are greatly in need of classrooms. Hence, Bro. Armin Luistro, Education Secretary, were calling on all Filipinos to work with them in bridging resource gaps, especially the task of addressing the classroom shortage, which is a critical step in providing enhanced opportunities for million of Filipino children.
Cecile Alcantara, the past president and trustee of LCF, said, “The government needs our support in implementing reforms in the education sector. The private sector and the communities must work together in mobilizing local resources and energies in order to improve access to education for millions of Filipino children. It is the future of our children and our country at stake if education challenges remain unanswered. As such, we must do our share to guarantee access to education for our nation’s children.”

TEN Moves is a call for “The Entire Nation” to move and offer resources to deal with one of the most important challenges facing our Education sector. The organizers of Ten Moves are optimistic about the power in harnessing and mobilizing National support towards their goals. And that afternoon, Mario Deriquito discussed about its views and how can people help the Ten Moves campaign.
“When we combine individual efforts, the impact that we can make toward enhancing education opportunties for millions of Filipino schoolchildren can be tremendous.” - Mario Deriquito, LCF education committiee chairperson.
